Cupcake Milkshake
Hello again! It feels like it's been forever since I've posted something here, even though it's only been slightly over a week since I last brought you all a recipe. In any case, this past week my life was completely consumed by studio, where I spent way too many hours to count making digital models, and working on Illustrator and Photoshop to create my final presentation boards. My final review was yesterday, and after legitimately not sleeping for nearly a week, let's just say I attempted to make up for it yesterday, by passing out on my bed at 2:30 pm and sleeping without interruption until 9 am this morning...is it bad that I'm still a little tired? To say the least, I got a bit flustered when I had to open up Photoshop today to look over my photos for this post (ughhh Photoshop AGAIN?! NO!!!), but then my mood changed completely after seeing the photos I had opened up.
Cupcake milkshakes!!! What a relief it was to see something not-architecture related, and instead see something pretty and colorful, and full of sprinkles! I could feel myself getting all happy and in just a better mood overall. I made these milkshakes a couple weeks ago in advance, because I knew that right about now I'd be swimming in the amount work that I'd have to do and such, so looking back at the photos I took for this post made me really want a cupcake milkshake!
Cake batter flavored ice cream is one of my favorite types of ice cream; I just can't get over how much it manages to taste like real cake! I guess it must be a result of some weird, unnatural chemical way, but whatever, I just love it. This is an attempt to recreate that delicious cake-batter flavor, but in a more "natural way." Does that even make sense?
In order to get as close to a cake batter flavor milkshake in as easy a manner as possible, I went with perhaps the most obvious method I could think of...blending a cupcake! I had seen other milkshakes get flavored with cookies and things like that, so adding a cupcake in their place seemed like the next big thing to try. It was remarkable...remarkable in the sense that the milkshake really tasted like cake batter (duh), but also because it had not occurred to me to try something like this earlier. Sigh. In any case, this is a delicious and simple milkshake that can be whipped up in seconds. Use any ice cream-cupcake combination and have yourself a cupcake milkshake...the possibilities are endless!
Cupcake Milkshake
Ingredients
1/2 cup milk
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1 cupcake (any flavor)
whipped cream and sprinkles, if desired for topping
Directions
Begin by incorporating the milk, ice cream, and cupcake in a blender. Blend until smooth, pour into a tall glass, and top with whipped cream and sprinkles if desired. Serve immediately.
Makes about 2 small milkshakes

ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you put an actual cupcake in the shake. This is pure brilliance to me! Like you, I'm a big fan of cake batter ice cream too and your cupcake milkshake looks like something I'd want for dessert every night.
ReplyDeleteamazing idea!!
ReplyDeleteLooking at this milkshake makes me feel like a kid again!
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, my brother used to work at Cold Stone, and he said they make the cake batter ice cream by adding packaged cake mix to regular ice cream. Your way feels more authentic, though. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI had actually read this somewhere on the Internet! I have a friend who makes cookies with cake mix and they're actually really yummy, but I wasn't too sure about adding cake mix to a milkshake. Adding a cupcake was easier!
DeleteThat's so easy and sounds so tasty too! I think I'll try this for s summer treat! :D
